How can we reach the clinic physically?
Our clinic is situated in Raniban, around 1 km outside of Ringroad. You can drop in Dhungedhara, and enter via Om Saibaba Memorial Hospital, pass through Nursery chowk 100 meters before reaching to Radha Krishna Mandir. You can view the google map location below.
What can I expect during my first appointment?
During your first visit, you will undergo detailed assessment of issues to better understand your concerns, symptoms, and treatment goals. This may involve discussing your medical history, current symptoms, and any previous treatments you’ve tried.
Do I have to take life long medication if started on psychotropics?
No. Psychiatric medications can be tapered gradually down over a period of time. It depends upon your type of illness, severity and many factors that determine your duration of medication. But it’s just a myth that you need to take life long medication.
How long are appointments?
Initial appointments typically last about 60 minutes, while follow-up appointments are around 30-45 minutes long. It may vary depending on your needs and treatment plan.
Is medication needed in all the cases?
No. It depends upon your problems, diagnosis, its severity, disturbances of biorhythms(sleep, appetite) and other many aspects. In mild cases, psychotherapy/counseling behavior modification works. We tend to go for medications only to those who need it.
Do you provide psychotherapy/counseling sessions?
Yes. Dr. Adhikari is also trained in psychotherapy and has broad experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT) sessions. You will get tailored therapy sessions based upon your personal requirements including relaxation exercises, coping and problem solving skills training and relationship counseling.
Is it true that psychiatric medications have a lot of side effects?
No. Many psychiatric medications have minimal side effects and are safe. Few of the side effects can be decreased by some behavioral modifications and other means.
